Any experienced webmaster knows the importance of a reliable FTP program. Many of you may make use of our simple upload tool available within your control panel however for those of you with more complex websites, you cannot afford to upload files one at a time so an FTP client is required to speed up the process.
The great news is that there are many free FTP clients on the internet and we have review the top 3 below!
FileZilla is no doubt the most well known free FTP client out there, like many things free it is also opensource something which has certainly contributed to its success. FileZilla may not look as good as the others listed below but when it comes to speed and efficiency FileZilla wins hands down.
FireFTP is not a standalone client, it’s actually a FireFox add-on. It’s both simple and lightweight whilste including many of the same features that you will find with FileZilla. FireFTP supports searching, remote editing, drag and drop, synchronization and more. FireFTP is a must for any FireFox fan!
GoFTP makes a lot of promises with regards to speed, supposedly working 314% faster than its competitors. GoFTP performs “on the fly compression” as well as instant connections and directories through proprietary technology. It also supports the usual features which we talked about with the previous 2 FTP programs. This is another good FTP program and once again it is FREE.
